Scope of Work

Creative Direction & Strategy

The Challenge

The primary challenge was to create a visual framework that effectively foregrounds the contributions of African American artists as vital agents of cultural preservation and resistance. The exhibition required a design system that could balance complex themes into a cohesive and impactful visitor experience within the Ringling College Galleries & Exhibitions.

The Design Solution

The solution establishes a distinct visual language that mirrors the strength and transformation inherent in the artists' work. By developing a curated narrative and a unified brand identity, the design frames the exhibition as a powerful vehicle for cultural dialogue, ensuring the artists’ voices are resonant and the message of resilience is felt throughout the physical and printed experience.

The Artist Cards

These cards serve as a focused medium to honor the individual narratives and unique contributions of each featured artist, with a collage of their most iconic pieces of work.
